Jacob has been wanting a guitar for a very long time. We have been wanting to wait until he could better respect owning an instrument. Now being 5, we thought this would be a good time for him to start learning about playing and caring for a guitar. Jacob saved up all this birthday money, and we took him to Simple Sounds to pick out his first guitar.
{looking at the guitars available}

{trying a 1/2 size guitar}
The 1/2 size guitar was a good fit, but it wouldn't be long before he out grew it's size.

{trying a 3/4 size guitar}
The 3/4 size guitar was a little larger and would fit him for several years. However, we thought the price was a little high for being his first guitar.

{trying a ukulele}
The Ukulele was more in Jake's price range, but he didn't like that it was so small and only had 4 strings. He was NOT interested in getting a Ukulele.

{trying the Ukulele-guitar}
Jacob chose the Ukulele-guitar. It has more stings than a Ukulele, and is a little larger so it felt more like playing a guitar. He thought it had a "good sound" too, which is the most important thing! And, it was red - Jacob's favorite color.

{Jacob payed with his own money}

{playing in the car}
As soon as we got into the car, Jacob had his guitar out of the box and was playing it. He spent the rest of the night composing songs like "When you're driving through the country you feel good" & " I love you mommy" which happens to my favorite!
